Project Background:

I designed a poster for a group of students from the Faculty of Media and Communication Technology to promote their short film titled “Faded Colors” The film explores the theme of family neglect and its impact on a young child.

My Concept and Design:

To visually convey the emotional depth of the film, I created a powerful and symbolic poster:

  • The central figure is a child with their back turned, staring at a blank wall, symbolizing isolation and neglect.
  • The child’s silhouette was styled to look as if it was painted or cut out, adding a raw, artistic touch to the design.
  • The background features muted, washed-out colors, aligning with the film’s title and emphasizing the bleakness of the child’s experience.

The combination of the child’s posture, the textured paint effect, and the faded color palette was intended to evoke a sense of sadness and reflection, perfectly mirroring the film’s message.

Impact:

The poster successfully captured the essence of “Faded Colors” and resonated with the audience, drawing attention to the film’s poignant theme. The design not only complemented the film’s narrative but also helped create anticipation and emotional engagement among viewers.
