Intro
Protes Sports is a leading athletic wear brand in Dubai, UAE. I took over a site that was plagued with technical debt, broken layouts, and severe performance bottlenecks. The mission was not just a redesign, but a complete Technical Restoration. I overhauled the entire digital presence, turning a fractured WordPress setup into a high-performance, conversion-oriented e-commerce engine that reflects the brand's premium identity in the Middle East.
Client's Goal
The client's initial situation was critical: they had a site that looked "broken" and functioned poorly. Their goals were:
Total Brand Rebirth: Moving away from a cluttered, non-responsive design to a clean, high-end aesthetic that appeals to the UAE's fitness community.
System Stabilization: Stopping the constant "Critical Errors" and white screens that occurred whenever the admin tried to add products or edit pages.
Checkout & Shipping Overhaul: Fixing a broken checkout flow where customers couldn't complete orders and shipping labels were practically non-existent.
Data Integrity: Cleaning up a messy database of products and categories that made navigation a nightmare for shoppers.
My Contribution
I executed a multi-layered development strategy to stabilize and scale the platform:
Full-Scale UI/UX Overhaul: I redesigned the homepage and product architectures from scratch using Elementor Pro, focusing on mobile-first responsiveness and high-conversion layouts.
Custom "ADS-Style" Logistics Engine: I engineered a bespoke Shipping Label System using PHP and CSS. This replaced expensive, buggy plugins with a lightweight, 4x6 thermal-ready label generator that includes dynamic barcodes and automated order data.
Core Infrastructure Repair: I performed "surgical" fixes on the server, expanding PHP memory limits to 1024M, optimizing the SQL database, and fixing the
wp-configand.htaccessfiles to prevent the notorious "Error 500."Advanced Checkout Logic: I rebuilt the post-purchase experience. I bypassed default WooCommerce limitations to inject custom-designed "Thank You" pages (ID: 10043) that maintain real-time order tracking and data persistence.
Social & Auth Integration: I resolved deep conflicts in the Social Login (Google API) system, ensuring that existing customers could link their accounts without getting "already registered" errors, thus reducing cart abandonment.
Summary of Project's Success
The transformation of Protes Sports is a testament to the power of Clean Code and Strategic Optimization. We went from a site that crashed daily to a rock-solid platform that processes orders flawlessly. The client now has an automated logistics flow, a luxury digital storefront, and a backend that is fast and stable. The result is a 100% functional, scalable boutique that is ready to dominate the GCC sports market.
